So Uncle G says: "We need to sort out this anthem"
And like a little doggy wagging its tail, I say: "Fantastic, what are we doing? Rock and roll style? Country?"
Uncle G says: "I think you should sing it solo"
With a little bit of apprehension I say: "Okay but I need 5 practise runs before doing a proper as I don't know the timing"
Uncle G laughs and agrees.......and then after the second practise run tells me that's a take.
I say "What d'ya mean? That was only the second practise, I'm out of time, the first chorus isn't right, the....."
Uncle G: "No that's a take. Just trust me"
And with that he does his magic on the mac and sends a version to Pawo (the monk) and Chris (a friend). A call later, it is three against one and somehow I feel a little bit of "je ne sais quoi". So I go along with it.
Chris says we should do a video of me. I disagree as didn't want to be the focus and get lots of photos together of a story with children. Unfortunately we are not able to film children without permits, etc. So cutting out a lot of "blah blah blah", the video is filmed.......and wasn't allowed to wear my sunglasses either :o(. Must have been in a light headed moment!!!
So here is the first take of our video:
- music by Uncle G
- words by Uncle Pawo
- kicked off by Sir Chris
- filmed and put together by Joel
- sung by some Tibetan looking lady
It has been a real privilege to be involved with the
Gesar Foundation.
There is a lot of love there and great support for children from all different
walks of life.
And for this reason, Pawo gathers many people to deliver the anthem in different styles, in different languages. For the words of the anthem, click here and to listen to other versions as they are delivered, please click here
May love, light and laughter fill many of your days.
