Secret Weapon #4 - The Darcy Pot

May 2007

Camping stove placed inside a container
When you've just come back to base camp from a trek, you light up the camping stove and place your pot of water on it.  After awhile of watching it, you get up to retrieve something from your bag and you accidentally tap the pot,  causing it to slide off the camp stove and spill its contents on the floor.

Something you just don't need when you're tired and need a drink.

Darcy has a great method of ensuring the pot would need a strong push rather than a gentle tap!

1. Get one large aluminium pot and bore holes for air and for fuel line and stove handle.

2. Place camping stove inside pot and ensure stove handle can be turned by placing it through one of the holes.

3. The fuel line is fed into a secondary hole and voila your cooking facility is now set up.

4. Light the camp stove and then place cooking pot onto stove.  The flame can be easily controlled at any time via the stove handle.
